One person. No agency.
Just better websites.
I'm Liam Bucklen, a freelance web designer in Pittsburgh, and I started Summit Website Development for a simple reason: too many small businesses around here have terrible websites.
I don't mean ugly. I mean websites that actively cost their owners money. Slow load times, broken forms, zero search visibility, layouts that look like they were built in 2012. I watched local businesses lose customers to competitors who just happened to have a halfway decent site. That bothered me.
Why I work alone
Agencies are expensive. That's not a secret. You're paying for the office lease, the project manager, the account rep, the designer who hands it off to the developer who hands it off to the QA person. Every handoff adds cost and strips out context.
At Summit, I'm the only person who touches your project. From the first conversation to the final launch, it's me. That means you get direct communication with the person actually building your site. No telephone game. No waiting three days for someone to relay your feedback to someone else.
It also means I charge a fraction of what agencies charge. Not because the work is worse. Because the overhead is gone. You're paying for the work, not the machine around it.
Why Pittsburgh
This is home. I know the small business community here, the neighborhoods, the way people search for local services. When a Pittsburgh business owner tells me they need more calls from the South Hills or more foot traffic from Lawrenceville, I understand what that means. I'm not guessing from a co-working space in Austin.
Pittsburgh is full of great businesses run by people who are experts at what they do. Plumbers, dentists, restaurant owners, contractors. They shouldn't have to become web design experts too. That's where I come in.
What you actually get
Every site I build is custom. No templates, no drag-and-drop page builders, no cookie-cutter layouts that look like every other business in your industry. I write clean code, optimize for search engines, and make sure the site loads fast on any device.
More importantly, I build sites that do something. Get you phone calls. Get you form submissions. Get you found on Google when someone searches "web designer near me" or whatever your version of that is.
I'm not interested in making art projects. I'm interested in making you money.
The short version
I'm a Pittsburgh website developer who builds custom sites for small businesses. I work fast, I charge fair prices, and I pick up the phone when you call. If your current site isn't bringing in business, let's fix that.
